What really makes this book fascinating is that it offers a look into one man's obsession with a theory of his own making. He brings up some neat ideas and points out some odd discrepencies in the historical record but come on...this is just theory, not history. It's tough to seperate the fact...

Despite of the interesting facts offer, the narration is too slow.

If you're a fan of history books, you'll like this book. It gets a little long in parts, especially if you are looking forward to the parts discussing North America, but it's a very thorough investigation by Menzies of the possibility that the Chinese visited much of the world before the European explorers.

Very interesting book. Some of it can be hard to read, but overall pretty easy. I'd love to have the time to sit and read through the author's research, which he's made available.

This was the most remarkable book I can recall reading in a very long time. Menzies helps even a total non-sailor like me understand navigation, the excitement of discovery, the awesome task of charting the earth. He also lays his proof out in a convincing manor. I also became very much aware of how little of this world I have seen, and am likely to ever see. Favorite book? I am driving everybody nuts about this book!

Definetly interesting. Sometimes Menzies gets a little carried away without much proof, but it's not the first time I've heard about the amazing Chinese fleet.

A must read history book revealing new information on the traditional viewpoint of the Age of Explorers. Guess what world, the Europeans didn't discover anything, China did!! Excellent read, well referenced. History has been rewritten during our contemporary.
