Mostly looks good on the shelf. Kind of entertaining, but I prefer a good old fashioned "how to survive the nuclear holocaust" survival guide for quality reading.

This book can't quite decide what it wants to be. For those expecting any humor, be it tongue-in-cheek or absurdist comedy, look elsewhere -- the book takes itself absolutely seriously, without a single crack in the veneer. That being said, the author can't seem to make up his mind as to whether he should assume readers are following his every word (and thus treating them as if they're prepared to do anything at any time) or leaving everything for the last minute (in which case he has to instruct them step-by-step on the very basics). This makes for a lot of contradictory advice and an awful lot of dry text. The book relies more on novelty than strategy, posing ideas that are interesting and unique but don't stand up well under scrutiny. It makes for a handy guide if you know nothing about tactics, weapons, or survival, but isn't much help if you have foreknowledge and are looking for an expert take on the subject. The biggest problem, however, is that it simply doesn't present the zombies as a threat -- after learning their weaknesses and limitations, they become more of an annoyance than a nightmare. It's worth reading if you love zombies and the novelty of such a book, but it's hardly the greatest read you could choose.

A brilliant guide to surviving the inevitable zombie apocalypse. ;) Bottom line, it's tongue-in-cheek-yet-serious funny and does provide some valuable survival tips that might help someone live through a real natural disaster. read this before you read World War Z.
