While I am not as focused on local, organic, and simple food as she is, it does enter my thought processes, and Waters is full of good ideas for keeping your food local. I also found a lot of neat recipes inside.”

I checked this book out of the library and greatly enjoyed it. Rather than a fancy cookbook it contained very basic information about cooking basic dishes. This is not a cookbook for the intermediate or advanced cook (unless they want to peruse it for Water's theory of local, fresh eating) but it is a good place for a newbie to start.
Other than a few fancy ingredients (like anchovies or capers) this is the most basic ingredients making (mostly) simple dishes.
Well worth a read if you are a new or struggling cook. ”
“This is one of my favorite cookbooks. The recipes are easy to modify, if necessary, and the food is truly simple and so delicious.”
