I bought this book last year and still seem to be reading it, but that's what great about this book; there are so many different stories that you don't need to read the whole book at once. Though I have a ways to go, it's already one of my favorites!”

My only complaint would be that one article was boring and irritating to read, and a few weren't really up my alley so I had to push myself to finish them. If I were the type to skip ones that didn't grab my attention pretty quickly, then the book would have been a smashing success. The rest of the articles selected for the book were fabulous!”

(Just skip the ones that don't appeal.)”

It is fun not knowing what in the world the next article will be about! There was only one article in the collection that I didn't bother to finish (the finer points of poker) and another I didn't really enjoy (the awful British soccer fans) but all the rest were worth the read.”

But the pieces were so interesting and I learned so much (about subjects as diverse as Saddam Hussein, cattle ranching and teen-agers playing the stock market) that it was hard to focus on how they were put together. (Not exactly the end of the world. NEXT time I read "The New Kings," I'll pay better attention to the technique.)”
