by Stephenie Meyer

Amazon Best of the Month, May 2008: Stephenie Meyer, creator of the phenomenal teen-vamp Twilight series, takes paranormal romance into alien territory in her first adult novel. Overview: Groups

What are you reading? 2321 books / 5558 members / 12829 posts A place to talk about books you have read/reading of any genre, or any book talk in general.
Twilight/New Moon Fans 7 books / 276 members / 624 posts Anyone even slightly obsessed with Edward, Bella, Jacob or just plain obsessed with the books!
Polyamory 96 books / 222 members / 105 posts Unfortunately, thanks to trollers, we've had to make this group "private", so you must be a member to see the shelf and discussion list. We regret that certain individuals have to disrupt our pleasant online experiences.

Books about polyamory, polygamy, non-monogamous relationships, open relationships, open marriage, non-traditional relationships. Books can be fictional stories that feature main characters or supporting characters in any non traditional relationship structure, or they can be non-fictional books about the subject of multiple partnerships.

We can also discuss more general relationship-building books that help us address things like jealousy and communication, which are the two biggest issues in polyamorous relationships (and all relationships, really).

If you have read any of the books we have already covered, but you joined late or it is past the due date, you can still add to the discussion! Let us know your thoughts on any of the threads, the discussions remain open!

This group is for discussing poly-themed literature only. It is not a pick-up site. Please do not make any posts requesting personal information or contact information from our members or asking to be their newest partner. This is not appropriate. Anyone making these kinds of posts will receive only 1 warning. A second infraction will result in removal from the group. If two people happen to develop a mutual desire to take their correspondence away from the group, that's fine, but the purpose of this group is *not* to hit on its members and unsolicited or non-mutual come-ons are offensive. Not everyone here is poly or actively looking for more partners.

There are plenty of matchmaking sites out there. We recommend www.polymatchmaker.com and www.okcupid.com if you want to meet other polyamorists. You do not have to be polyamorous to participate in the group. We are here to discuss books.

If you need more information about what polyamory is, please visit:

Fantasy and Sci-fi Fanatics 1027 books / 1169 members / 1173 posts I am personally addicted to fantasy and sci-fi and I created this group for people to discuss Fantasy and Sci-fi books that they have read.

I have found myself, more often than not, searching for a really good fantasy or sci-fi book, but to no avail. Starting a group not only enables me, and you, to find great books, but it also is a great way to discuss likes and dislikes about these books.

Just a warning, I will also put realistic-fiction books on the group shelf if I feel that they are as good as a fantasy or sci-fi book. MEOW!!!!!

***NOTICE***
If you are a member, or just a random person, please put any sci-fi or fantasy book that you *LOVE* on the group shelf, please!

Another thing, plez post discussions or reply to one, i'd love to hear your opinions.

Books You Can Not Live Without 55 books / 17 members / 21 posts What are the books that you can not live without? What are the books that you read and then read again, to the point that you have to buy another copy? What are the much loved titles that would be with you on a deserted island? Well, as a book addict, I've given this much thought. I've even created a traveling library of books that go with me where I go. So, I've created this group for all my fellow bibliophiles. The shelf is for these much loved titles, regardless of genre. Although, since I love romance, it will probably have a romantic slant. Please feel free to add your favorites and to discuss why you love them!
Mrs. Gaetano's English Class, Period 4, Fourth Quarter 20 books / 25 members / 103 posts Welcome to your fourth quarter outside reading book project! As a class you are certainly growing in your ability to discuss literature.

1. I would like you to write a book review where you analyze the book using literary elements (characterization, setting, point of view, theme, etc.). Notice, this is not a plot summary, but an analysis of the book. Think back to the paragraphs that we wrote in class concerning “A Lamb to the Slaughter” and “I’ve Got Gloria”. It should help you understand what you should include in your project.
2. Along with the analysis I would like you to include a quote that exemplifies the character, a theme, or the understanding of the book.
3. Finally, I want you to end this review with a recommendation. Who would like this book? What other books can you relate your book to?

After you are done with this analysis I would like you to comment on your classmates’ reviews. This requires you to make a thoughtful comment and to ask a question. You are required to respond to at least three people. This project is due on June 6, 2008.

1 book = less than 250
2 books= 250 pages
3 books=400 pages

A few tags are excluded
The only tags that cannot be used as your team tag are: 1001 books to read before you die and the classics, classic, classic literature tags as they are covered elsewhere; and the tag of the month- there will be a separate bonus for that tag.

Read other teams' tags to rack up extra points
As an added bonus if you read a book that fits another team's tag we will also give you a 2 points for each tag. So if you read 4 other teams' tags you will get 4x2 = 8 bonus points. This assumes that each team picks a unique tag. If that doesn't occur, the potential for extra points declines to the number of unique tags x 2 pts.

Monthly tag bonus
If every member of your team reads one book for the monthly tag, there will be a 30 pt bonus for that team.

Prestigious awards that count for 9pts include:

Booker Prize
Caldecott Medal
