“There were moments that I loved this book, and other moments when I was incredibly bored. It's apparent that the author did a tremendous amount of research in compiling the biography, but sometimes the research took away from the account. It's not the book to read if you're looking for some dramatic rescue stories or for any detailed information about the Jewish people hidden at the zoo. ”

“Would've given 2.5 stars if possible. The book tells the daring story of Zabinsky couple who hid many Jews in Warsaw Zoo during WWII. Although this theme has been explored many times before, the book adds another perspective to it. When man is behaving like animal on one hand; there are others like Jan and Antonio Zabinsky who've blurred the line between the two in a better sense.”

“I found it difficult to get into...the author went into a lot of dry data about animals, which was an impressive show of knowledge, but was so detailed that I thought it could have been toned down as I was more interested in the people story. I ended up not finishing it because it was due back to the library.”
