I wonder if this book is for Christians as some evangelical friends say it it denounces certain Christian doctrines!

I have to admit, I'm having a tough time with this book. It is a little out there, and everyone says that it is so well written, but I don't really think it is very well written. I appreciate the symbolism in the book, but it's so far out there that I'm struggling to finish it, I just want to get through it so I can move on to something different.

I thought this book was a little misguided and while parts may have some truth to it, there are plenty of things that I found disturbing. I believe that there are three separate beings that comprise the Trinity, but I don't think one is a black woman, one is an Asian woman and that Jesus walks around in jeans and goes fishing all the time. I also believe that organized religion absolutely has it's place in society and in spirituality. Too many weird components for me to like this book all that much.

This book is one the most refreshing books I've read. It takes a lot of basic idea's and concept's and breaks them down for you. I would reccomend this book to anyone, believer or non, traditional or contemporary. This is definitley a must read, it's not the typical "tear-jerker", where after you read it you're like.... I don't get it. You WILL ball. It's a great story with well developed characters and plot that could change the life of an open minded person. READ, READ, READ!

oops pressed the button before I should have. This book is incredibly refreshing becasue it reminds us of God's immeasurable love. So many Christians want to pigeon hole God and make the bible a set of rules to live by. Make God conform to what they think is the right way. The Shack shows how God/Jesus desires and seeks relationship with us and how far beyond our understanding divine love is.

This book articulates the profundity of God. People make God small and God can never be defined by human thought.

That was one of the most interesting books that I ever read. It made me understand a lot about God. I found it easy to relate to my life because I have been going through grief and what this guy goes through is sort of what I have gone through too. It has opened so many doors for me.

That book is dispicable to me. It's just outright weird. I'm a Christian but I don't get that book. It's got just about nothing to do with the Bible at all really.

I finished this book today, and I loved it. It is a book that some people will love, and others hate, but as everyone has different personal opinions, that should not make a difference to your own perception of the text.
I have struggled with my belief for a few years now, not knowing what to believe, and after reading this I felt refreshed, as if a door had been opened. I found this book to be an extremely touching picture of an individuals relationship with God, his difficulties in trusting God, and his journey in accordance to his beliefs.
Books touch people in different way, and this book has made a profound difference to my life as I know have a renewed faith in the Divine, as opposed to my uncertainty before.
