The narration switches between first person point of view of Hope Adams and Lucas Cortez. Hope is a half chaos demon. She was raised by her human mother but discovered in her teens that she was not like everyone else....” see full review » see other reviews » |
“This is a silly but engaging series about werewolves, witches, vampires, and demons. Some cool relationships and decent sex scenes. A good beach-type or poolside read!”

It shows the dark side of power and how the heroine struggles with it while dealing with the dangers and difficulties of her world. Great sex, good writing, and believeable characters. Reading this at the same time as 'No Humans Involved' and either novel is solid enough to stand alone, but they play off each other's plotlines as well, weaving depth! Becoming a favorite series fast!
Definitely has become a fave now that I've finished it. I recommend this novel if you're looking for a strong female lead and a fun writing style.”
“I love Hope and I'm undecided about Karl but I still like this one.”

Another pack member that we get to learn about even though this is Hope’s book. I will admit I never thought of Karl being the way he is depicted in the book but it is great to see him be/act the way he does. We get a different outlook of him from past books and this cleans him up for us, along with giving us an idea of what Hope really is about. Great story line, not one I would have ever thought happening; and well thought out character involvement. Interesting to see Lucas’ father again and the tragedy that happens in this story, makes you kinda feel bad for past characters that you tend to put on the hate list ].]. On a happier note this is only the beginning of Karl and Hope so I’m really looking forward to more.
Go Werewolves!”
“It's interesting - the romance side of the story is turned up from the previous in the series, but I am enjoying it!”

This is a good book but just didn't have that something special that all the books with Elaina have. Maybe I am just partial. Give it a try and find out for yourself.”

Hope doesn't make a lot of sense to me, the whole chaos demon thing but it was neat to have Paige and Lucas in the central parts of the story too. Karl = such a tortured soul. ”
“I liked this book. I liked the girl-goes-undercover theme, and overall pretty good story. It's not a romance (thank god!) but Hope and Karl have some great chemistry.
As always, I love how Armstrong throws in character's from the other books in the series for some short cameos.

“People looking for a "romance" novel will be disappointed by this novel, which combines 1930's pulp-detective style writing with modern-day fantasy writing about non-human and part-human earthbound beings. As in the old pulps, there is a hint of romance, but details are as earthy and direct as they can be now (unlike in the 1930s when they would have been unmarketable.)”
