“Oh, dang, this is "book two"?!?! If you're in the mood for hot and sleazy, this is the quick read for you. The main character, Chantal, is so far removed from who I am as a person I could just not relate. But the plotline still swept me up and I felt obliged to finish. Lawsy, what a ride. The opening scene (at the breakfast table on the morning of Chantal's high school graduation) and her father's naivety at what a pedicure is proved hilarious and actually is what hooked me into reading this. :)”Donna-Jo Webster wrote this review Thursday, March 14, 2013. “Deja King is one of my favorite authors, but this book was ok..not one of my favorites...I could not tell who I liked the best between Chantal and Tyler. I felt bad for both girls situation. I felt as if Chantal had potential to change. It seemed as if Andre started off as a player, and Chantal delt with so much stuff , that she had to put her guards up. Then all of sudden because he saw another pretty face. Chantal was the bad guy....not sure if I liked the direction of the book. I definitely did not like the ending. Making Chantal look crazy. I mean Tyler my girl, but she was not peaches and cream!”Christy wrote this review Monday, November 30, 2009. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“Excellant book! Tyler baker, the new woman in Hollywood, and dating a hot director. Even those he is married, her ex-lover from the past had found his way into her life again, T-Roc. Tyler thinks her life will not get any complicated, she falls in love with Andre Jackson, he got fame, money, movie star, bad boy reputation, that she said she would stay from. Chantal Morgan, Andre long term girlfriend, mother of his child, wants to go from being a hooker to a housewife. Tyler and Andre are cast into a movie and sparks are flying. I was upset how it end, but I was hook from the beginning to the very last pages. Our book club in the month of May will be discussing all her books. And I enjoy reading every one of them, starting to buy them all now. they all will be worth your wild reading them. Recommend them all!!!”sweetcakes wrote this review Tuesday, May 5, 2009. “A Wonderful Follow-Up
"Hooker to Housewife" introduces Chantal Morgan, long term girlfriend and baby momma of Andre Jackson. Andre is a talented musician and has it all. Chantal did what most people thought was impossible; she used her body to get her to the top and landed Andre. But after five years, all she got was a ring with nothing behind it.
Tyler Blake is getting her big break in Hollywood and it's all thanks to her new, older, married director boyfriend. Trying to find her leading man for the movie, she ends up crossing paths with T-Roc. The role ends up going to Andre and before you know it, they fall in love. But in the background there are two people determined to break this love triangle up.
I enjoyed reading all the drama in this book. I think Joy King did an excellent job following up from "Dirty Little Secrets." I thought that Tyler Blake was over the drama, but she definitely encountered more in this sequel. Chantal Morgan's character was very interesting as well because you saw so many sides to her. She was the ruthless gold digger, the insecure girlfriend, and then you saw a sensitive side to her. This was a great read from beginning to end.
