This book is indeed BLASPHEMOUS! Don't waste your time. If you are a Christian like me, you will be particularly disappointed with the way in which the author portrays Christians as fanatics. I literally threw this book away in the trash in utter disgust.

When the largest particle collider goes online problems arise. wyman ford if brought in to find out why the scientist have not reported any findings and to prevent a protest ride on the collider. When a TV evaligist with a publicity problem uses the collider as a lightening rod to rally his flagging ratings, problems really big.

I found this to be a little preachy and not twisty enough. I think Preston writes much better when he is with his writing partner Child. However, it was a quick read with good thrill factor.

Enjoyed it--didn't find it a thrill, however.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book - it is a combo thriller -- scientific, political, and religious. How much more can you pack into one novel? I was drawn into the story and had difficulty tearing myself away to sleep and go to work.

I admit, I was a little unsure about this story as I started to get into it because the premise seemed a little trite and overdone but now I don't even remember what I was expecting.

If you've followed any of the Large Hadron Collider news stories, a similar device is one of the main characters in this story.

In this story, the device is nicknamed "Isabella" and lives under an Arizona native american reservation in what used to be old mining tunnels.

A lot of different characters and groups have things to say about it and it proved to be riveting to watch how Preston wove it all together for the dramatic conclusion. Navajos with their internal and external conflicts, brainy but scarred scientists, religious people from the devout to the fanatic to the fradulent televangelists, shady lobbyists and DC politicians playing power games. Add 'em all up and you get Blasphemy!

It'd make for a great movie for sure!
