Liked It“You can read this book in two days. I would have liked the characters to be more developed. I haven't read the other three books in this series yet so maybe the characters were already more expanded. I will probably read the other three at some point. |

“I loved this book. It is the first one I ever read by Brandilyn Collins but I will be reading more. "Amber Morn" is filled with action and suspense brought about through a hostage situation in a small town at a café where older people do a blog together. I finished reading this book in just two days. It held my interest and I was anxious to keep on reading. It is the last book in the Kanner Lake Series but I still enjoyed it even though I hadn't read the other three first. It has Christian overtones through it but does not preach at all. I liked the way it ended too.

“Admittedly this was the first book in the Kanner Lake series that I've read. But for me there were just WAY too many characters in this book. You didn't get to know anybody well at all and it was hard to remember who was who.
Other than that, this was a gripping plot that kept you wondering what would happen next.
Good writing and very realistic situations.”
“Brandilyn has done it again! An intriging and fast moving book, with wonderful characters. Always remembering the One who keeps them safe. You will want to read this from start to finish non-stop.”

If you have read the first three books in the Kanner Lake series, this one does not disappoint. Brandilyn manages to close the series with a page- turner involving all of townspeople that you have come to know and love. If you have not read the other books, grab them all would be my first recommendation. If not, this book stands alone in its rich story and characters. Don't hesitate to pick it up. Do be sure to clear a couple of days on your calendar for you will be hard pressed to find a place to close the book and set it aside until the end. One Saturday morning, the patrons of Java Joint are gathered for a celebration, the signing of S-Man's book contract. The joy of the day is interrupted when three gunmen burst into the coffee shop and start shooting. One patron is shot and tossed outside. Police Chief Vince Edwards finds himself facing the most frightening situation of his career and the possibility of losing most of his friends in one horrible incident. Will he be able to negotiate with the trio holding the Java Joint hostage? Will he prevent anymore gunshots? Will the town of Kanner Lake ever recover from this final episode in the life of its residents? Buy the book and find out. It is well worth the purchase. When Brandilyn Collins calls her books 'Seatbelt Suspense,' she is not joking! ”

From a writer's perspective, the different POV's in this book were amazing. Only Brandilyn Collins could put 10 people in one room for basically an entire book and give each character a rich voice. Full of suspense and a very satisfying ending, this is a must read if you've read the series. This doesn't stand alone though, as the other Kanner Lake books, so catch up on her previous Kanner series books first.”

Yes | No“Amber Morn by Brandilyn Collins is the fourth and final book in the Kanner Lake Series. Kent Wicksell's son T.J. is in prison for a crime he claims he didn't commit, so Kent and his other two sons, Mitch and Brad, decide that the only way to get the world to hear of his innocence is to take the bloggers from Scenes & Beans blog hostage when they gather for a party. All the favorites from the previous three books are back and ready to celebrate S-Man's signing of his book contract. But these three volatile men storm in, shoot one of them, and in a systematic way set about getting their story out to the world. Only police chief Vince Edwards can negotiate with the Kent and find out the truth about T.J. Collins is known for writing Seatbelt Suspense, and she lives up to that title again in this book. The scenes are fast and furious leaving me often breathless. I had one small disappointment with this book: the Wicksells were completely unsympathetic, and while I know there are monsters like that in the real world, it would have made for a more complex story. Collins continues to develop the other characters and move their stories forward to a satisfying conclusion. ”

Having followed the residents of Kannar Lake through the previous books, the situation that develops in Amber Morn had more impact and kept me frantically flipping pages until the end. ”

Only today is no ordinary day. Soon all her regular customers arrive to celebrate S-Man's (aka Ted Dawson) new book contract. Bailey, Ted, and the rest of the gang have put Java Joint and Kanner Lake on the map through the nationwide popularity of the café blog, Scenes and Beans. This perfect day is going as planned until three men with guns burst through the door. Kent Wicksell and his two sons are holding the Java Joint hostage in order to get their message out: Kent's youngest son must be released from prison or people are going to die.
Kanner Lake Chief of Police Vince Edwards now finds himself in a true life or death situation. If he doesn't meet this madman's demands his friends may die. Vince is now forced to play the middle man as he negotiates with Kent Wicksell and his illogical reasoning. Locals and the rest of the country wait with bated breath to see if once again hope and deliverance can be found amidst tragedy in Kanner Lake.
Brandilyn Collins has saved the best for last in this final installment of the Kanner Lake series. The beauty of this series is how different each book is, all the while becoming more entertaining with each new offering. This time around Collins holds nothing back with a frenetic pace that readers will find impossible to put down. Rather than focus on one or two main characters, here all of the favorites are back with a powerful ensemble performance.
This is without a doubt the most intense of the series and at times, the most frightening. The characters we have come to love face an evil that is unsettlingly real, creating a major emotional roller coaster ride. Vince Edwards' plight especially is tension laced to the max and proves once again how talented Collins is. This is high octane suspense done right and one that will have everybody on the edge of their seats. As I always, I can't wait to see what Brandilyn Collins has in store for us next.”
