“The Pawn” is one of the most gripping thrillers I have ever read. Though it clocks in at just over 400 pages, it reads like a novel that is half the size. The plotting is tight and original, the characters are well-drawn, the investigative process is excellent, the many twists and turns of the story…there is just a lot to love here. The villain is about as evil as the come, and the hero is conflicted and brilliant. I also liked the slices of history—they were an unexpected treat.

Be warned, though, there are parts of this book that, for me at least, were difficult to read because they were so authentic. So inherently evil and dark. Not necessarily gory, but the type of situations that—if they were in a movie—I might turn away from. (The only things you’ll be turning with this book, though, are the pages.)

Altogether a great, great read. I look forward to the next book in the Bowers series. Well done!

I've enjoyed all 5 of his books so far. Jealous you are at the beginning, while sit with nothing new. :)
