“Linda Needham, “The Bride Bed” is a romantic tale of the ill effects of war and its destruction of its people. Lady Talia’s castle has been ransacked and pillaged over and over again the last 2 years. Her castle being the middle of the fighting siege and overthrown six times to be exact. She can not take another siege nor will she see her people starve yet another winter. Lord Alex de Monteneau is different then her other war lords but she still can’t trust him to save her people from another attack. Alex can’t see Talia in his future born a bastard he worked hard and doesn’t want to settle his name on a tattered old castle. He wants more but Talia is slowly worming through to his cold heart. Now, he can’t see life without her but Talia has other plans for Alex. She’ll give up everything to see her people free of the torment of war. Even the man she loves.
I thought the story very disappointing and overly flowery. The writing is very descriptive and a little to over the top for my taste.”
