I was extremely impressed by how deftly Lyga handled this; so many people romanticize child molestation when it’s a woman who is the offender. There is none of that in this story. You get to see how the abuse...” see full review » see other reviews » |
“This book is disturbing but very well written. The agony and anger that Josh experiences over the sexual abuse at the hands of a teacher has shaped his life for the past five years. No one can possibly understand what he thinks and feels because he doesn't actually understand it himself. Excellent book although it is sexually graphic and contains lots of adult language. The story could not have been told as well without it but I just like to give the warning. ”

Josh Mendell is a high school student who thinks everyone knows about his secret. He also believes he's also being watching with eyes that judged him. In the end, he finds that no one really hates him and also finds that his friends never hated him. This book shows a great deal of emothion, IT'S INTENSE!”

There were a lot of twists and turns through out the book and it left you wondering. The character Josh really surprised me and sometimes I would hate him, but a lot of the time I felt sympathetic towards him because of what he had gone through and what he was going through. Barry Lyga did a lot of research ad you can tell because there is a lot of information that makes this fictional book seem so realistic. It was a very good book and I would mostly recommend this to teenagers because they might understand the different points of view of each character and even relate.”

Amazing piece. I couldn't put it down.”
“I really liked this book because when I was reading it I didn't want it to end. The only thing I didn't like about it was sometimes it would talk about baseball and I don't know much about baseball so it was kind of confusing. ”

The main character Josh is very unique in his own way, having to deal with
his parent's divorce and Eve getting released out of jail, and then an old friend
from the past wanting to catch up after 5years...now I can't tell you too much, but
it is definately a great book! READ IT!”
