This is one of the most important books of American poetry in the 20th century. No exaggeration. Brooks is only beginning to be appreciated for her contribution to our literary and political landscape. I can only hope the trend continues so that she gets the recognition that she deserves. Read. This. Book. "The Anniad" is my favorite and the focal point of my dissertation chapter on Brooks.
