Linda Lael Miller is great in weaving a story. I especially like her McKettrick family stories set in the old west.

As an avid reader of the McKettrick series, I always look forward to a new chapter in their story. This is one that doesn't have the depth to stand alone as a great story but as a part of the larger McKettrick "whole", it does the trick. The characters aren't in as much depth as I'd like (frankly, I was more interested in Brad's sister) and I am interested to see how the development on the last page (promise not to spoil it here) leads to for the McKettrick clan. If you are a fan of the series, it won't disappoint but you'll need to read the series to value this chapter.

I love the McKettrick Family!! I was so excited and shocked when I saw there was a new book coming out! So, I rushed to buy it and started reading RIGHT AWAY. I felt this book had sooo much potential and was a real page turner about half way through THEN something bad happend!!! Miller introduced too many new charectors and attempted to have way to many twist and turns. The Auther lost focus of the "original" storyline and I felt annoyed by all the "sub" story lines. This felt like nothing more than an attempt to segway into a new series. WHAT A BUMMER!! READ IT IF YOU ARE A LOYAL McKETTRICK FAMILY FAN but keep in mind this is not at all one of Miller's great stories.
