I didn’t finish this one although I did read at least ¾ of it and then skimmed to the end. The writing was great but the anticipation of the misery that I knew was coming kept me from enjoying it. The attractive, suffering, virgin hero is drawn fairly deep for a romance hero but appears powerless for the majority of the book. The entire premise is one of threats with the warning of loss of life - the villain never plans on letting the heroine go home alive and he is very effective at keeping both Grace and Matthew captive. Although well written, the background, current events, and future are all miserable. Why do I want to read about so much misery? This, however, is an author I will continue at read and probably buy each book. She is very promising and I gave her first book an A. 12/07
