I liked this book a lot. The head of the coven finally gets a life outside of his job. I think Isabelle and Thomas are perfect for each other as they are exact opposites. They both need a little of what the other has to offer. The love making is off the charts steamy. The story line is...

Water witch Isabelle Novak must form an uneasy alliance with earth witch Thomas Monahan to hunt and destroy a demon of tremendous power, even though Thomas's very presence stirs deeper desires than she ever knew she had.

You have to love an ass kicking redhead! Add some sci fi, excellent romance and you have this great book.

Maybe it's because I read so much paranormal fiction and have a lot to compare her to, but this series of Bast's, while decent, is definitely not something I would put near the top of a list of authors or series' I'd recommend to friends.

First of all, the ending was disappointing for me. Without giving any spoilers, I felt that Bast just ran out of energy, or couldn't come up with anything else to really wrap up the story in a way that resolved where she had built it up to. One minute there's danger and the next minute everybody's living happily ever after. For me there should have been a more thorough wrap up.

Secondly, it seems like Bast has a serious fascination with dominant/submissive sex as all the female characters we've met so far have been happily accepting the submissive role to the male witches they get involved with. In Witch Fire, that was fine because Mira was in a submissive place having not known she was a witch and having just come out of a bad marriage. However, Isabelle is a very different woman and I chafed a little at how submissive she was with Thomas - it just didn't ring true for me.

That said, the storyline in this book was much more interesting to me than the one in Witch Fire. I really enjoyed learning more about the history between the witches and the demons and the mentions about all the historical information Isabelle was collecting with Micah near the end makes me hope that there will be more about the world they live in in future books.

Like I said, this isn't my favourite paranormal series, but it's a good read with likeable characters and interesting plots, and I will read other books in this series.

Although this is the second book in the series, it could stand alone. I like the attitude of Isabelle and the interplay between her and Thomas who we met in the first book. If you like hot, this book is for you.

    Another great story!
    Witch Blood
This story is different than the first. It centers on the leader of the Coven, Thomas Monahan, and a water witch, Isabelle Novak, out to get revenge for the death of her sister by a demon that was summoned over 25 years ago by William Crane the former leader of Duskoff International.

Isabelle Novak disguises herself to get close to the new leader of Duskoff International, Stefan, William Crane's adopted, fire witch son. Although he's not directly responsible for Angela's death, Isabelle decides that he is the best alternative since she can't capture the demon responsible. Usually the demons come to Earth, do the bidding of the Duskoff warlocks and then go back to where they come from but not this one. Why?

Isabelle gets Stefan by the balls, literally!, but is ambushed by the Coven before she could attack on taking Stefan's life, even though she already accepted that she was unable to actually kill him, but she manages to mangle his precious manhood.

Thomas Monahan is at the scene and asks her to come on board to help with the investigation of the demon and the questioning of Stefan. Thomas Monahan is the powerful leader of the Coven and is also a very strong earth witch. Yes, earth and water are natural attractants.

Thomas and Isabelle are immediately attracted to each other and don't waste any time in expressing themselves. Isabelle does it as a reason to take her mind off of the reality of her life. Her sisters death, her worthless mother, and her inability to hold on to any thing good.

She and Thomas work well together and their adventure to finding out what the demon is up to and to stop it from killing witches is the task at hand. Will they save the lives of the innocent witches by sacrificing what they have or don't have?

Again, this author, Anya Bast, has got the tone and the skill of writing this fantasy book down like a pro! This book not only hooked me to the characters of Thomas and Isabelle but she also wrote about a whole other species and their dimension that they come from. I'm excited to find out that there's a third book coming out in January!

I liked this book a lot. The head of the coven finally gets a life outside of his job. I think Isabelle and Thomas are perfect for each other as they are exact opposites. They both need a little of what the other has to offer. The love making is off the charts steamy. The story line is fantastic. The characters jump off the pages. I would recommend this book to everyone who loves paranormal romances. Now I have to sit on my hands and be patient for the next Elemental Witches installment. *Bites lip
