Anne Stuart does not disappoint. This book has all the things I love about Anne's books. And it has more. The characters are heroes on the edge, but the hero and the heroine. They live in the black heart of light, but fight for good the best way they know how. As much as I love Anne's heroes, Killian really sunk into me. His battle to do what must be done, and the fact that he never really got over Isobel in eighteen years. Isobel is convincing as a cool, competent leader for a covert organization. She suffers when she sends men out to their death, but she does it because it's the right thing to do. You want these two people to find peace. You want them to be together. In the hands of a master like Anne Stuart, you get what you want and more.

The best in the series yet!

Completely and totally awesome! I finished it just before midnight and I had to jump right on and post my review while the book was still fresh in my mind. *grin* Hope I hear my alarm clock in the morning!

Lots of action, suspenseful twists and turns, and the characters just suck you into the story with both hands.

Isobel isn’t the ‘Ice Maiden’ she appears to be, and I like that about her. While Peter (in Book #2, Cold as Ice) sees right through her facade, no one would guess otherwise, except for Killian, aka Serafin. She keeps a tight reign on her emotions, letting loose only when she’s completely alone, and it made my heart hurt to see that.

And then there’s Serafin, known to Isobel as Killian, a man she knew eighteen years past. She thought he was dead… Surprise! Talk about wake-up call! Arrogant and infuriating as all get-out, you can see he’s the perfect match for Isobel, even if neither would admit it until the very end.

A twist in the story leaves your jaw nearly on the floor - I’d have never guessed in a million years what/who Killian truly is, and it truly hurts Isobel when she finds out. I understood her anger. She did what she needed to do to put an end to what was happening to the operatives of The Committee and I hailed her for it. She did what she needed to do - even if it cost her.

Bastien is also involved (Book #1, Black Ice), as well as Reno (Takashi’s cousin, Book #3, Ice Blue), and a small twist with a young boy, Mahmoud, has you wondering what the fifteen-year-old will be bringing to the story in the future. The ending was perfect, I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I’ll be picking up Fire and Ice on Friday. You can bet I’ll be reading it asap. Out of the four books so far in the series, my pick is this one.

Isobel Lambert is the powerful head of a covert mercenary organization called The Committee. Serafin is a mercenary, assassin and the most dangerous man in the world. Seventeen years ago Isobel shot Serafin and left him for dead. Now it looks as if he's tracked her down for revenge. But Isobel knows all too well that looks can be deceiving...and that's what she's counting on to keep her cover in this international masquerade of murder. This book starts out 17 years ago when Isobel shot Serafin. Isobel had never shot anyone before. She stood there numb, unmoving and her hand and arm tingling with the recoil of the gun. Isobel didn't know whether to check to see if he was dead or just leave before someone came by and saw what she had done...so she calmly straighted her hair and put the gun away and walked away from the man she had shot. From present day forward you than will get a chance to read what happens when these two rivals meet each other face to face. One word "Explosive" literally! See what happens when these two are forced to team up and try to survive terrorists, a mole out to kill them, keep from killing each other along the way, and all while travelling from country to country. Once you start reading this book you won't be able to put it down till the last page. That's what happened to me. I started this book on a Saturday morning and had it finished by Saturday afternoon. If you like the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith, than you will need to check this book out and the other books by Anne Stuart in her "Ice" Series. Anne Stuart brings her unique love of Japanese rock and roll into some of her books.

Another excellent book in the series. I think this is probably my favorite one of them all. Very high paced action and suspenseful.

Madame Isobel Lambert has to face her past. An international killer who she thought she killed 17 years ago. Can she handle the present?

Heroine is the near-burnout director of The Committee, the employer of the bada$$ bad boy heroes of her “Ice” books. The heroine was an innocent when she ran into the hero on her way to cooking school in France. He used her and betrayed her, and when she saw him making deals with terrorists, she shot him. But she never forgot him. And now, turns out, he’s still alive. And he wants her to come get him out of his latest predicament so he can make a deal with the Committee. But things go wrong from the beginning, of course. Suffers from the too-abrupt endings of the other Ice books, but even so, it’s a great read if you enjoy Stuart’s wicked-bad boys, as I do.
