Really enjoyed this book. It taught me a lot about my fertility and my own biology that school did not. Good for any one who's been through puberty but more helpful as you get older and want to have children (probably).

Not for the gentlemen, this review: If you don't like the expense, health risk, and discomfort of contraceptives, how about understanding how your body actually works, and then working with it? The thickness of this book is deceptive; it isn't difficult to understand the female body and Weschler makes it almost entertaining, between her cartoons and her witty prose.

Very informative. You really don't know your body until you've read through this manual! Great for natural birth control options or getting pregnant--just depends on your goals at the time.

It was a very informative book on how to follow the cues your body gives related to your fertility. I had no clue about my "cycle" was much more then just the week I had my period. I would recommend to anyone who is trying to get pregnant or want to be informed about your body and why it does what it does.

I thought I knew a good deal about my fetility and my menstrual cycles before I read this book, but boy was I wrong!! I have changed my outlook on birth control completely and moved towards a more natural approach to avoiding pregnancy and a usually much faster approach to getting pregnant. I love this bok and with this infomation I will empower my own daughter with its information when she is ready for it. There is however, a Cycle Savvy book geared towards young girls and teens that is not about achieving pregnancy or avoiding but understanding their cycles.

So incredibly helpful, informative, and empowering - this is a book that I think nearly -any- woman can benefit from studying. I have browsed other books regarding fertility, and I would say that while they have their positive aspects, TCOYF covers most every base that would need to be covered, without being stuffy or boring throughout.

What sets this book apart is the fact that it gives women the information to make themselves powerful and in control of their reproductive system - being in touch with my cycles has been one of the single best things I've done for myself aside from choosing a plant-based diet. What surprises and saddens me most in my interactions with other women since I've read TCOYF is that many don't, in fact, have a very good working knowledge of their cycles and their fertility signs, and sometimes mistake perfectly natural workings of their reproductive system to be indicative of infection or other problems, simply because of lack of education on the subject.

It is important to note that if someone reads the book with the intention of trying to avoid a pregnancy, that they very thoroughly read and study the book before relying on FAM (fertility awareness method) as a means of avoiding pregnancy. Weschler does a good job at impressing this upon her readers, but in order for the method to be most effective, it is quite crucial to be aware of all the rules and methods for TTA (trying to avoid).

This book should be required reading for an health class. The information in this book is so good to know regardless if you are using the methods for birth control or conception. As a woman in my late 20's, I was shocked at how much of this stuff I never knew!

Not a bad book, would probably give it 3 1/2 stars if I could, but it overcomplicates something so elegantly simple and natural that it just bugged me. The author does try to enliven the material, I'll give her that.

This should be required reading for every woman! It is an easy read - the author is an average woman with average thoughts until she became educated about womanhood. ...Sometimes she assumes you think just like her - which isn't bad, just a little irritating, when I want to say "DUH!" and move on. But the knowledge herein should be more common!
