Some interesting stories, but definitely not one of the best year's collections. I think a lot of the stories are good for exhibiting some pretty good science writing techniques I keep seeing over and over again.

These "Best American" collections are always a great read. This year's science writing includes medical advancements, an invention machine, the Dover Pennsylvania trial on teaching Creationism in the classroom, paleontology, and how to cook a perfect egg. Diverse and amazing things going on in the world of science.

I love to learn about things scientific but find it a challenge to keep up with a science magazine. This annual series allows me to enjoy the best of the best science writing for amateurs and keep a finger on the cutting edge of scientific research. The kids enjoy some of the articles as well.

I am a science geek and I found this absolutely fascinating. No scientific writing here, but science writing for the lay person, and the best of it. I think there was only one story that did not appeal to me. The rest had me dying to share what I was learning with my friends.
