Not my typical genre, but Ron Rash came to my school's campus as a guest for the annual Fiction Festival, so I read it. WOW! It was fantastic. Rash is a great story-teller and the novel reads almost like folklore. Would definitely recommend this one to everyone, regardless of preferred genre. Some stories surpass genre limitations. This is one of them.

This was my favorite book that I have read this summer. I look forward to the discussion my book club will have.

Quick murder mystery read that takes place in Appalachia. I have discovered I am fond of Southern literature and enjoyed reading this book over a rainy weekend. Told from the perspective of 5 people involved in a murder case. I would like to read more by this author, Ron Rash, in the future.

Ron Rash was first a poet, and if only I could write prose this well! A short yet wonderul novel which captures a sense of time and place and mountain culture exquisitely well.
