Takes place in 1921 when he is asked to come out of seclusion to solve some questions about anarchists in London that may be from the highest classes. ”

I enjoyed her descriptions of the country house party and the English characters much more so than the American main character, he stands out in a manner that didn't seem to be solely the writer's choice. I understand that he is meant to be a bull in a china shop, but he seems awkward in a manner that is unintentional - like Ms. King spent too much time watching Edward G. Robinson movies and so hasn't quite grasped her character outside of a few trite G-Man phrases. If she revisits this world, I hope that she works the kinks out.”

I couldn't have said it better, including the spelling! A superb story. Post WWI rivals of labour and the coal mine owners in London and Oxford, and briefly in Cornwall, sets the stage for American Bureau of Investigation (early J. Edgar Hoover), agent Harris Stuyvesant's hunt for a bomber he believes to be a British labour activist. Harris insinuates himself into the lives of a titled family, Bennett Grey, a "PTSD" and somewhat clairvoyant war survivor, and his sister, Sarah. He and Bennett are also hounded by a government manipulator, Carstairs, who has his own agenda for power and terrorism. This is a well plotted and complex story with interesting characters and facts of the socials following the war mixed in. I highly recommend it. You'll love the twist.”

Agent Harris Stuyvesant became one of my favorite detectives. A good detective of the old school who fit right in with the times. It was a great story, despite the historical errors, which I was able to overlook because I did so enjoy the story. She has hinted that she might write a sequel. I hope so!”
