Good info, and important research, but I lost interest in the way it was presented about halfway through. I may pick it up again later, since I may have just been too consumed with other things at the time. Another book I am looking forward to is "They Love Jesus but Hate the Church". Similar...

This is an outstanding book based on research done by The Barna Group. Kinnaman did an extensive study on the perceptions that those in their teens and 20s have about Christianity. It’s important to know how the young generations, young Busters and older Mosaics, have towards Christianity since they are and will be the leaders of the Church. It was surprising to learn that many of these young people and young adults have spent time in church or interacted with Christians and have been turned off by what they saw and heard. Kinnaman talked about six specific negative perceptions and steps we can take to change those perceptions.

I like statistics and this book delivers. It's a concise, logically organized argument against religion and for relationship. Most of the changes advocated are changes in attitude that are difficult to do and even harder to show, however, it's excellent advice based on wonderful research.

Barna Survey groups results on why the term "Christian" results in negative responses from those "outside" tradition church structures.

Really, this is a MUST READ for those who care about the youngest generation both within and without the church. It is not flattering to people of faith, but it is fair and accurate. There is much hope, much that can be amended within Christianity that will allow our lives to be used to draw others to God.

This book was intriguing in relation to the research that was undertaken in how those who are not christians and even those who were or the younger generation of christians vs the older generation and the way people think or view morality as a christian. Definitely interesting!

Similar content but it looked like a better read when I thumbed through it.

I'm not normally a big fan of books that are based on polling; but I thought this one was pretty good. The authors' premise is that Christianity as a "brand" in the early twenty-first century has acquired six significnat negative perceptions in the minds of "outsiders" (those who do not self-identify as adhering to the Christian faith) and, to a lesser degree, even among the younger generations who think of themselves as Christians. The analysis is thought-provoking and intended more to raise awareness of the problem, rather than to advance any particular solution. A very worthwhile read to anyone who wonders where post-modernism might be taking us.
