Excellent, as are all J. D. Robb's books. In this one, a prominent, rich and much-loved man is killed in such a way that his reputation is blatantly ruined by the media. Lt. Eve Dallas, as the Homicide cop, has a clue who the killer may be, but finds no hard evidence. In her search for something to go on, her hunky husband, Roarke, makes a remark about an old movie that starts Eve's brain moving on a different track. After much work, a few sessions with her team, all kinds of interviews, getting this case to the point of nailing her suspect may not work!

fun, quick read. good mystery (although i must admit the title does give too much of a clue!). my biggest problem with this series - the emotional hangups of the characters hashed and rehashed and rerehashed to death (or should i say 'in death?') - was finally absent in this one. yeah!

This is my all-time favorite series, but STRANGERS IN DEATH wasn't my favorite book. Although the mystery is interesting, as always, there wasn't much character development, and most of my favorite characters (Mavis, Summerset, McNab, etc.) are rarely mentioned.

Overall, you won't want to miss this installment if you're a fan of the series, but this isn't the best place for a newcomer to begin reading.

This is the first time since I was turned onto this series about 7 1/2 years ago by an old coworker that I have fallen behind in reading this series! This is the 28th book in the In Death series and you'd think it would start to get stale after so many books about the same characters. But it never does! I have one more to catch up on, then the latest one that came out recently. Then I will be caught back up again. I'm not sure why it took me so long to read this. I've loved each and every book so far.

This book goes back to being more of a strict murder case. We see Eve investigating the murder of a man who seems to have not made an enemy in his life. But she unravels lies the further she goes. I like that this book went back to a more procedural pace. I love learning more about the secondary characters in each book, and seeing Eve grow. But it was nice for that to all take a back seat for one book and just see Eve work through a case of a single murder.

I highly recommend this series to those who love romantic suspense. Don't let the long series bog you down. You'll fall in love with these characters and never get tired of seeing them over and over.

Very few authors have the ability to suck me right in. I sat down with the book and I completely forget about the time. I started reading it in the evening and think it must have been around two in the morning when J came into the living room and told me to go to bed. He took the book away from me...yep, took it away. I had to go to sleep. Anyway, I finished it the this morning.

Like any series, there are books that are really good and other that just don't do it for me. And this one fits in the "Eh, it's okay.". Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it, but I found the second part better than the first. It seemed to take a while to connect the two points of the story together. By the end of it, it was all tied up together.
