Tonya M wrote this review Sunday, November 16 2008. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No“Nelson Dubois Kennard, at 40-years old, is a two time divorcée. His girlfriend, Parris Stalls, of four years has greedily decided that his being broke is too much for her to continue to digest. After all, Parris is alarmingly beautiful. In fact, her splendor can afford her a man of means. Thankfully, Parris doesn't have to search hard for her rich man. Shenandoah Armstrong, Nelson's former basketball rival, has the resources that Parris desires.
While Nelson suffers through his loss, he is consoled by Grace Underwood, his banker. Grace appears to be generous, hospitable and a sacrificial spirit. Can she be his "saving" Grace?
Nelson is the driving force behind taking Kennard Janitorial Services to a new level. Now that his life is making a profit, he finds himself traveling the ladder of triumph. Is that the sweet reward he's always sought after?
Just as readers are awestruck by the why, how and what of things, Nelson finds himself again ready for love. In spite of his pruning, he is caught up in another web of lies and deceit. Will Nelson's newfound wealth and prestige keep him from misusing his power or will greed and reprisal end his chances for a new life?
THE HONEYMOON IS OVER is sheathed with commotion, infidelity, love, sex, self-indulgence and spite, all of the necessary requirements for a Keith Lee Johnson signature novel. In this reader's opinion, this is the hottest novel to date by Keith Lee Johnson. If by some coincidence, readers have yet to experience Keith's knowledge, capacity or suspense in writing, The Honeymoon is Over, is a great way to begin.”
“This book was pretty good. It had twists and turns I was not expecting. I was so eager to find out what was gonna happen next that I found myself finishing up the last hundred or so pages in one sitting.”

Being in the janitorial business does not pay the best, but he is determined to turn his business around and make his and his family's life cruise on easy street. Knowing that Parris is getting restless with their lifestyle of being broke, he tries to convince Parris that love is more important than money. Will Nelson's reasoning convince Parris to stay or will it be too late?
Parris Stalls is a sophisticated beauty who loves money and the finer things in life. Being in love with Nelson is hard, but after four years, it is out of habit. Love doesn't pay the bills and it definitely cannot put a mink coat on her back. Will Parris move on or will greed get the best of her?
Shenandoah Armstrong has a bone to pick with Nelson. He will not and cannot forget how Nelson stole his girlfriend right from up under his nose. Will a twenty-year vendetta cause Nelson to lose what he has worked so hard to achieve?
If you have read previous works by Keith, you will know that this one is a little different from the others. There is still orchestrated crime, jealousy and revenge, but there is something just a little different. Maybe it is the vulnerability of the main character. I don't know. Keith keeps the momentum going as being one of the best authors to date.”
“Great, great, great is all I can say. I enjoyed this book alot. Women can be treacherous when it come to love. When it was said that love is crazy, you can believe it if you read this title. Nelson is one good catch and all the ladies know it and now he knows too. What a journey he takes in search of a mate worth having. Enjoyable! ”

The last part of it, however, wasn't so great. It just seemed too implausible. I thoroughly enjoyed the first 3/4 of it, though (smile)”
