The only good thing is that the serial killer is a woman. I found this charecter to be interesting, but no Hannibal Lectur. The book was less terror and more...” see full review » see other reviews » |

This was an intricate and page-turning thriller. Archie Sheridan is returning to work after a two year medical leave following his ten days of torture at the hands of the serial killer he had been hunting for 10 years. The beautiful Gretchen Lowell may have left him breathing, but he did not return as the same person. His addiction to pain killers and his remaining stockholm syndrome issues make his return to the force to hunt down a new serial killer a definite roller coaster. Gretchen has ruined him, and made his life a living hell. Even if she is now behind bars, she hasn't let go of her hold on him.
I can't tell much of the plot because it would give too much away. The psychological aspects of the book are just as intriguing and disturbing as the serial killing and torture. Archie is so flawed and messed up, but you can't help but love and root for him. Gretchen's ability to control and haunt not only him, but all those affected/effected by her is astounding, and you find yourself genuinely concerned for Archie's future. I really look forward to reading the next in the series.”
“Gretchen Lowell may not have served a fine chianti with her victims in Heartsick, but is a character that will remain just as scary-real as that other well-known psychopath. This is not just a reworked Silence of the Lambs with a female killer. The relationship between the tragic hero Archie and Gretchen truly captivated me. Some people would call this a great beach read. Not me. On vacation I'm usually with family or friends. If you pick up Heartsick they will be totally ignored from the time you pick the book up until you reach the last page. Thank you so much rowanthea for the review at the beginning of the month where you mentioned this book. My next stop is to see if the next two books are available on Kindle.”

Just when I thought I found a flaw, it turned into another twist. Well done, fast read, absolutely entertaining for those who love thrillers. I only hope the next in the series can meet the challenge of this introduction.”

The serial killer was gruesome but smart..the fact that she's a gorgeous, manipulative woman makes it even more interesting..the main character's attraction and seeming addiction to her is surprising..I had a very hard time putting this down and i'm really looking forward to the rest of the series!”
