I loved this one from Paulo. I had read Alchemist as a teenager and had failed to understand his thoughts... With 'Witch of Portabello' I am dying to read more of his works. I have to admit, the thoughts are heavy to completely understand at first read. I will be reading the story of Athena again...at least 2-3 times more. i do wish this was a true story. The book makes the search for 'who am I' and 'what was my purpose in this wold' a search within your reach. We indeed consider such questions useless, and consider a quest for the anwers is meant for those with lots of money and no worldly responsibilities.. Why?? Athena sets out on this quest while carrying on wordly acts such as marriage, child birth, work (bank clerk and real estate agent, which are very real).. a must read..

To be honest, it's captivating book. If I read 1000 books, i won't find such a thrilling book like it. The way Coelho portrays the biography of Athena is really impressive. the story is unbelievable. it attracts me from the first page.

I kept reading it, thinking the good part was sure to come soon, but it never did. I totally disliked the main character, thought she was selfish and a horrible parent, I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.

v well written. totally different presentation. surprising ending. but passes down wrong beliefs and notions about spirituality. there is much more to spirituality. this book should not be taken as something to be followed.
