“I enjoyed "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho and had high hopes for this book even after the first few chapters. Then, when he introduced the "Great Mother" or the feminine side of God manifested in the main character, I felt like it got really weird. There are a few decent developments in the story and he has some interesting ideas about this feminine divine but it comes off super New Agey (if you are into that you will like this) for an author with a Catholic background. I thought it was...”

    To Monika who said that Athena chose a life that was difficult -isn't Coelho expressing exactly the opposite; that we don't necessarily choose who we want to be but rather suppress who we truly are, and in that way Athena was an expression of what happens when we let go?”
