“I can't help but love the Bridgertons, especially the Dowager Viscountess Violet, she's such a character. I thought I'd give this less than 5 stars because of the unoriginal Cinderella story, but I found myself getting emotional in some family-related scenes, and was very moved by Benedict and Sophie's love.
Once again, with Julia Quinn's writing, I felt giddy. The excitement and anticipation was there. How would Sophie and Benedict ever end up together? So as I read on, I felt Sophie's anguish, Benedict's frustration for being known as just "Number Two", and felt happy when they found each other again.
I kept wondering when the truth will ever come out and how everything would end, even though I already knew they would end up together, I was still curious as to the how. As fate would have it, they'll meet again somehow, stay together in some way and let nature takes its course.
The things I loved about the story are their arguments, their conversations, the humor, and of course the characters. I'm looking forward to reading the next!”

“Benedict Brigerton is his own man
But it ain’t easy being Number 2 in the clan
Of the Bridgertons, that adorable family
Which must surely have earned JQ lots of royalties.
Sandwiched between older Anthony and younger Colin
(Now there’s a sandwich La Lola would like to be in)
Benedict longs for a woman of his own
Who will love him for himself and not his family’s renown.
Then one day at a masquerade ball (is there any other kind?)
He spies a vision that purely blows his mind.
It’s Sophie, our masked heroine du jour
Who’s beautiful and sweet but yet, very poor.

“I simply adored this book!!! I enjoyed how it started out with the Cinderella-like story line, but then about a hundred pages in it veered off in a new direction. I found the whole book honestly delightful. I was either giggling or getting teary through most of the book. It seems like with each Bridgerton book I become more and more enamored with this family. I confess I am a sucker for anything with a fairy tale twist, but not all authors pull it off -- this was just utter perfection.”

When the Earl marries, Sophie is happy to know that now she may have a mother and sisters... but to her despair, the new countess despises her and so does her elder daughter but the younger one is always friendly though she can never voice her support infornt of her mother and sister.
Things turn worse when the Earl dies and leaves Sophie under the Countess's care, her position turns from a ward to housemaid overnight.
When she attends a masquerade ball. with the help and persuasion of the staff of the house, she finds her prince charming, but has to leave b4 midnight and without revealing her identity. Benedict tries to find ' the lady in silver' but she seems to have vanished from the face of earth. And when the Countess suspects Sophie she throws her out of the house.
Two years later, Benedict and Sophie meet again, this time he rescues her and takes her to his cottage. He finds himself attracted to her though she is a housemaid.... he wants her. When he offers her to be his mistress she refuses and he takes her to his mother's house with a promise of a job...

“Benedict and Sophie's story is sweet and subtle, you almost never notice Benedict in the other two books, but when this story begins there is no one who won't be completely in love with him. A slightly different spin on Cinderella, An Offer gives you new views on old characters, and you'll really become addicted to the series. A benefit of any of the Bridgerton books is that you get to revisit old characters while watching others grow up.”

So far, they are witty, light and very enjoyable. An Offer from a Gentleman continues with Benedict’s story and is told in a fairytale. This book still hasn't fallen to the series-itis that can plague a series. If you haven’t picked up this series, you must, and I know I’ll hate getting to the last book. The only problem I had that sometimes Sophie’s actions weren’t consistent, and I think the big secret went on for a bit too long for the reader. Not big gripes, but enough to not earn a 5 in my book.”
