  “Francis Ray has crafted a wonderful story of spousal abuse,starting over after escaping an abusive marriage, and then daring to let love heal. Lilly Crawford is the main character who escapes her abusive husband, leaves the small east Texas town in which they live and drives her 12-year old broke-down hoopty to Louisiana. Unfortunately the car breaks down but fortunately, Lilly finds assistance and employment as caregiver to a neurosurgeon who is blinded after a carjacking. Initially, Adam is withdrawn, angry, uncooperative, and brooding. But with Lilly's patience and perceptiveness, the two develop a close relationship which develops into an unexpected attraction. However, before Lilly can start a new life with Adam, she is forced to return to Texas to get her divorce and confront her violent husband. Francis Ray has truly mastered the romance genre and her solid tradition of superb writing and carefully crafted characters. This is a must read.”
