Nothing more to add from me than sharing the same feelings that the book brought in me when i completed it last week... I started it 3 weeks back and read daily after office till late in night and completed it.. Excellent and many of the chars were part of my dreams every day... The best thing i like abt the novel is how Kalki as an author has penned the + and - of every character.. He must have lived each of those chars in full to depict them in such a true way... And the interesting historical facts with evidences, and the glimpse of a gone by era and its great kings 1400 years back, the cultural aspects, etc.. I cannot compose the amazing satisfaction and happiness the novel gives in these few lines here.... Like some one said, Kalki could not have written this novel to the minutest details without having some nostalgia of his previous births.... TRULY THE KING OF NOVELS and Kalki is right person to be called AMARAR (meaning Living for ever)

The following site has many more such great works of Tamil classic literature, including many of Kalki's novels in PDF format. http://www.tamil.net/projectmadurai/

Hope we all contribute to such digitization efforts to help the next generations to come, like Kalki did write our history for us to read and know

I have read many English novels and Tamil too. But above all the novels, even above Sidney Sheldon's, I love this novel. What a suspense... intrigue... I love this one. Can anyone keep the book aside from the page where our Hero Ponniyin Selvan return to the Capital (on an elephant) after being identified. Kalki has written this novel with supergenius efforts threading the real historical happenings and fiction (I can never believe this is a fiction). Wow! A wonderful novel. Its more than 2 years after I read this one and still I can feel the taste. Wonna read again (and again and again...). A must read.

Ponniyin Chelvan ,written by the great tamil writer of the
twentieth century of historical novel in beautiful tamil and the incidents and personalities were exposed in unforgettable manner by artist Maniyan about half a century
ago ,before Kalki's demise in 1954. It was a narration
of past history interwoven with fame and beauty of kings
and Heros both in battle fields and in palaces
