I have read many English novels and Tamil too. But above all the novels, even above Sidney Sheldon's & Dan Brown's novels I love this novel. What a suspense... intrigue... I love this one. Can anyone keep the book aside froem the page where our Hero Ponniyin Selvan return to the Capital (on an elephant) after being identified. Kalki has written this novel with supergenius effort threading the real historical happenings and fiction (I can never believe this is a fiction). Wow! A wonderful novel. Its more than 2 years after I read this one and still I can feel the taste. Wonna read again (and again and again...). A must read.

This is probably the mother of all novels that one could have come across. i started reading it when i was in 10th std and i still can't stop rereading after 19 yrs. no wonder this intrigued techno savvy creators like MGR and Kamalhaasan.to make it into a movie. in fact, if one has to do a cinematic justice to this epic, Kamal is probably the only one who has the technical know how and the brains to carry it off. unfortunately, i heard he has also sold the rights to a TV producer. i still can't fathom how Amarar Kalki was able to create singlehandedly a masterpiece of such a magnitude with so many complex sub plots. the only other work that is more complex with more intrigue would probably be Mahabharata.i would urge that this be read through the bounded collections( i am sure every 3rd reader of Kalki magazine would have) of kalki editions, as it would have the Great maniam or Maniam Selvam or Padmavasan's illustrations, as one need to relate to the faces of a Vanthiyathevan or a Azhvarkadiyan Nambi, which you don't have in the paperback or hardbound editions
