“Elspeth McGillicuddy is on her way to the country to visit her old friend Jane Marple. But her peaceful journey is greatly disturbed when she sees a young woman being strangled on the train next to her. But no murder is reported and Mrs. McGillicuddy has no way to identify either the victim or the killer. With a very small cache of information it is now up to Ms. Marple with the help of Lucy Eyelesbarrow to find both the victim and the killer.”

“I won't list all the Christie novels that I have read. I don't honestly think I remember them all. This is great example of the novelist at her best.”

“One of my all-time favorite mystery novels. Lucy Eylesbarrow and Inspector Craddock are swell characters.”

“Miss Marple is very good if you like both Agatha Christie books and extremely puzzling murders. This one is one of my favorites. Of course even in murder stories there is some comic relief and that is played by the inspector who always seems rather annoyed and grateful at the forever appearance of Jane Marple.”

“I've also seen a movie which was good, but that one's just not my favorite aghata christie because all the work is left to Lucy, which I don't like. The ending was interesting - I was joking with friend - if I were Lucy, I would marry Brian and if she were she would marry - I don't remember the name... the one who was wearing cheap clothes?”
