“"Satanic" references a stumbling block?Having read the book, I discovered that it wasn't so much actual Satanism (which didn't exist at the time "Haunting" was written) as a mish-mash of other things thrown in for what felt like shock value. However, even before those elements (heavy and blunt, in the usual Wheatley style) came into play, the main character made constant references to them. Was this a stumbling block, as you read it through? Or was it easy to read past them? Did it stop you from reading the book at all, for that matter?”
