“a motivating book about an older woman from india finding her inner strength and standing up for two abused boys. a story everyone should take the time to read.”

Didn’t Like It

“Very disappointing book. I loved the other two books that I read by Thrity Umrigar (The Space Between Us and Bombay Time). But both of those books were set in India, while this one was set in Cleveland, Ohio. I think the author just doesn't have a very strong sense of what it's like to be an American and resorts too much to stereotypes. The Americans in the story just didn't feel like real people -- they felt like caricatures.
Umrigar should stick to writing about what she knows best...”
