The story is a take off on Sleeping Beauty. Beauty is awakened by the prince (with a whole lot more than a kiss) and essentially becomes his somewhat willing sexual slave. She's carted off to his castle where apparently his kingdom is responsible for "training" all the princes and princesses from the surrounding area. Training them for what, I'm not sure exactly because what they learn doesn't exactly seem to dovetail with great leadership skills. The focus of their experience is complete and utter submission in every context imaginable.
The story itself is somewhat engaging simply because the whole concept is so far out there, but it's a bit hard to say if a reader will like it or not because I think it really depends so much on your own personal fantasies. To my mind, I found some of it very erotic and much of it ridiculously silly. The amount of spanking involved really goes above and beyond any fantasy I have ever had, lol. Basically, if you don't embrace imagery of bondage or the concept of submission, you probably aren't going to find much in here worth reading.
Let's just say, you aren't reading this book for the character development or clever plotting in the same way we know guys don't buy Playboy magazine for the articles.
That said, I did finish the whole thing . . .not sure what that says about the book (or me) other than my curiosity was peaked and the story did have enough suspense involved that I kept going.”

“Wow....never read anything quite so--vivid. Wanted to put the book down, I really did, but just couldn't. Painfully descript yet strangely pleasurable. To me, the rather uninitiated,this book would seem to be the equivalent of a night-long S&M rendevous.”

“ This book is the first of three . I also have to say this book is definatly interesting to put it mildly . I have read this book over and over , and will continue to do so :) I really enjoyed this book alot . I would say this book is an erotic BDSM and is definatly for adults ! I would reccomend this book and the other two that follow in the three book set for couples as well . I was definatly caught by suprise ( it was the first Anne Rice book I had read :) She is a very talented author ! ”
