I have read this book some years ago, and it was my favorite in a period when Jules Verne was my favorite writer. I loved to read the life of the mysterious character, Captain Nemo, with all it's tragedy and radical choices. I admired the character for his wisdom and knowledge in so many domains.

i found it very hard to get into, so i had my father read me the first 50-100 pages. in the end, you begin to understand capt. Nemo and his choices.

Yes, Captain Nemo is a bit scary; but I wanted to be on the Nautilus even if kept against my will after reading this story. The undersea world is described so incredibly that you are diving with them. I love the war raging in the world as the backdrop for this fantastic voyage! But then, I never read a Jules Verne I did not fall completely in love with.
