I really enjoyed this book even though I stopped after reading half. But I thought it was good enough to pick it back up and finish it.

here we have many legal brothels so I don't think any weird of it at all. I think it is better than to have the girls on the street. The author even made...

This was an interesting, fairly unbiased look at the inner workings of a Nevada brothel. While the author spent a bit too much time in self-exploration, that was probably inevitable when turning two published research articles into a full length book.

I appreciated the author's honesty and her unflinching look at the women and their work. While she was a bit more judgmental than I had expected, not being a proponent of prostitution before she began her research, her factual accounts were mostly opinion free. This is a great read if you're interested in sex workers.

I LOVED this book! It is wonderfully written, very quick read for non-fiction. It lets you into the lives of the women working @ the Mustang Ranch and dispels any preconceived ideas you might have about brothels. I would recommend this book to everyone!

As a helping professional, this book helped me both when I was working with prostitutes and trying to understand their life, as well as when I worked with young girls and was trying to innoculate them from the temptation of Living the Life, so to speak,

This was a fascinating look into life inside a brothel. A medical student began her study to find out why legal prostitutes have a lower rate of STD infection than other prostitutes, and even the general public. She is then pulled into a study on how life functions inside a brothel--who are the customers, why do the women work there, do they plan on leaving--and makes several return trips to the Mustang Ranch to continue her work. The book finishes with the Mustang Ranch closing its doors due to an IRS lien, and she keeps up with several of the women from inside the brothel to find out how they live once they leave. It's a riveting story that answers a lot of questions about how brothels function and who you can expect to see behind the doors.
