This is a very bleak story and there is not much hope to be found at all. Margaret and Thomas’ mother disappeared out of their lives and left them with their father. The story is set in the depression and their father was trying to look after them as well as earn enough money to feed them. They lived in a tent most of the summer. It was a heart breaking story of children trying to find their mother and wondering why she doesn’t come home. Thomas continually blames himself as he had a fight...
