The series appears, like Cherryh's other good series, Foreigner, to be set to go on for bloody ever. As long as Cherryh lives long enough to reveal two things: the central mystery of the origin of the five Sihhe and the location of the Earth of the Atevi, I'm happy.”

This book gets off to a slower start than any other of her books. It is rich in detail, and full of intrigue. Before this book I had always preferred Cherryh's sci-fi to her fantasy. With this book, at least for me her fantasy becomes as strong and intriguing as her sci-fi.”
