It starts one muggy day in May—a phone call from a college friend propels Salihah onto an international adventure. 
She spends the summer hanging out from London to Marrakech. Whether it's running from a ex in America or to an lover in Italy—if there is an awkward situations, Salihah can find it. She makes it through with a little flirting, a lot of enlightenment from her guardian angel and her crew of eclectic travel buddies. Her companions on theses escapades include a gay retired ballet dancer, a half-Ethiopian half-Brazilian dating guru and a collection of lovers from the beach who can never come home to her real life.
She dances, drinks, dates and attempts to her find purpose in this autobiographical novel that chronicles her twenties spent bouncing around four continents

  • Salihah: The narrator who is 22-years old when the story begins. She is a documentary photographer. Sali speaks several languages and been travel independently since age thirteen.
  • Dieter: A gay retired ballet dancer who Sali meets at work. They share a love of vodka and Everything But the Girl.
  • Adera: A beautiful half Ethiopian half Brazilian college friend. She dispenses sage advice to young Sali.
  • Lola: Sali's travel buddy who is known for her long curly hair, capoeira thighs and temper.
