I read this years ago, but I still enjoy the re-read... I love how F'lar has a vision. I also love seeing Lessa emerge as a leader.

Reading this book is like travelling back in time ten turns while riding a bronze dragon.

I love Anne's first introduction into the series. She paints such a vivid description of everything in her world and the relationships between characters has great depth. I enjoy the personalities the dragons have and thier relationships with thier riders. What a good book and a very well done introduction into the land of Pern, Thread, and Dragons!

Recently re-read this -- by listening to the audio version. I much preferred reading it. The narration changed the way the characters came across -- far more sexist than I interpreted it the first time. BUT, I still enjoyed this book.

Anne McCaffrey is a marvelous writer. The way in which she describes the emotions between a dragon and its rider, and the complex relationships characters share with one another is captivating. Lessa is one of my favorite characters with her strong sense of determination and humorously snippy attitude. This is a book I could read over and over again.

Dragons, a planet names Pern, Harpers, dragonriders, how can you not read. Anne McCaffrey is a rider/writer of dragons.

This was awesome, one of the first books I ever read with a time paradox as a major part of the plot. McCaffrey gives a grand tour of a vast and intricate alternate universe in this great series.
