“A fuller story than "The Sword of Shannara". Having laid some of the groundwork for his world in Sword, Brooks able to focus a little more on character development. Having less key characters and sub-plots also makes this a more focused work. ”

“The grandson of Shea Ohmsford(see the sword of shannara for more details) Wil Ohmsford is visited by the druid Allanon. An anceint evil from the world of faerie threatens the four lands. Demons. They rage against the elves who have locked them up in the magical wall of the forbidding for seven hundred years. The Ellcrys, a magical tree that held the forbidding is dying. All the chosen who served her have been slain and only one is left. Amberle Elessidil. She is the grand daughter of Eventine Elessidil, king of the elves. She abandoned the job of serving the Ellcrys.

She ran away so the demons could never find her. Wil has the power of the elfstones a power that could protect the holder and seek out anything. Soon he loses the power. Allanon was lost in a pack of demon wolves and Amberle who wishes to find the bloodfire of which she would put the Ellcrys seed has nowhere to go. All she has is her protector Wil . Read the book to find out about the quest to the bloodfire, what had befallen Allanon, and how they might conquer the demons.”

“A long book, both in size and in reading time. it has a bit of a dark aspect to it, but the end has a wonderful spiritual side that i liked. the land is interesting, especially in its creation. i recommend this to anyone looking for a long story of adventure.”
