“Leave it to Stephen King to cut through the bull and get to the heart of the matter: guns are not tools. Guns are weapons.

He also shoots down (yeah, I wrote that, and I'm a little ashamed) the idea that we are a culture completely steeped in violence, and that is what drives the gun violence. It should go without saying that our movies, TV shows, and games are voraciously consumed all around the world, but you don't see the sort of gun violence in other countries that you see here.

This is a must-read for anyone who loves Stephen King, not just as a writer, but as a voice of reason. It is also a must-read for anyone who is concerned about the gun violence we experience every day in this country and wants to see a change.

King does not call for anything other than common sense solutions, ones that any rational person would see as reasonable and fair. I can only hope that rationality will prevail. What else is it going to take? FIFTY dead kindergartners? ”
