I freely admit that I read this like a textbook, a chapter at a time, digesting the subject over time. Also like a textbook, the sequence of concepts builds logically, starting from Einstein's...” see full review » see other reviews » |
“One of the most important book I've read. It explains in terms a layman can understand, that the perceived universe is very small compared to the actual universe.”

Brian Greene is able to explain the most complex theories in physics in layman's terms that even this High School Language Arts teacher can understand. ”

If you have even a tiny bit of curiosity about the world around you, this is an excellent place to start. Greene is a very engaging teacher.”

Brian Greene does an excellent job of explaining advanced physics to the layperson, and reading this book definitely bends the mind a little about the nature of reality. Intriguing, if you're into this sort of thing.”

I have not the mathematical knowledge to understand String Theory yet I feel so enlightened to its nature after I read this book. Brian Greene does a wonderful job of catching the reader up through the different paradigm shifts in Physics from Newtonian Mechanics to Einstein Mechanics to Quantum Mechanics and finally to String Theory. The wealth of analogies he purveys in order to represent the strange world of Quantum Mechanics help even the most ignorant Physics student understand what is occurring on the scale in which sub-atomic is huge, Planck scale. I thought I was about lost when the concept of ten spatial dimensions was thrown into the mix, I only SEE THREE, but he walked me through it and I can say I think I get it, but no one is expected to understand it. Yet”
