Didn’t Like It“A great way to learn about physics. It shows how math is involved but yet you don't need to know math to understand this book. I enjoyed the read although some is over my head.” see full review » see other reviews » |

I really got this unpleasant, "hey I'm Michio Kaku, look at me" feeling right away and I just couldn't get over that and put it away. I doubt I'll ever have a desire to finish it. Unless I hear something compelling to change my mind.”

It's fun to read Michio Kaku, whatever the subject. He makes me feel like the ten-year old I once was, with boundless enthusiasm for anything with science in the title.”
“Kaku manages to cover everything in as little time as possible, from the origins and alternatives to the great string theory itself, with a satisfying amount of mathematical basis for an introductory book. By the end he even manages to apply it all to man's role in the universe, a grand and admirable book with imagination, history, and theory! ”

The problem lies in the chapters of Part II, where Kaku seems to forget he's writing for a general audience, and assumes too much technical knowledge of the reader. The other sections of the book are better, although he is sometimes dogmatic about the conclusions he and others draw from existing theories about extra-dimensionality.”
