- Joshua Rivers: Joshua Rivers is the protagonist of the No More Dreams Series (Kiss Me, Genius Boy; My Generation's Lament). A former child prodigy and son of a lottery winner, as a young man he becomes an anarchist student radical and is interested in visions of a perfect society. But the main thing that drives him is his desire to find a girl he saw in a vision when he was twelve years old, who he believes is destined to be his wife.
- Lilian (Lily) Lau: Lilian (Lily) Lau is Joshua Rivers' lover in Kiss Me, Genius boy and My Generation's Lament. Born in Hong Kong, she migrated to a tourist town in Australia when she was very young. By the time she is a teenager, her mother runs the family's Chinese restaurant on her own, and she helps out after school.
