Loved it. A little slow for the plot, but I never minded it was just something I was aware of. Liked the lyric language. Hoping there might be some sort of sequel someday?

I've read some strange books, but this one is really out there. Didn't like the dark, creepy theme of the book.

The last few chapters are so exciting. The way everything ties up in the end is beautiful.

I really enjoyed this book. I liked the setting, the characters and I loved the way the story was told out of order in a stream of conciousness. Since, I was listening to the book I did find it difficult at first in figuring out which of her thoughts she was saying aloud and which thoughts she was keeping to herself. Throughout the story she is having conversations with people while having flashbacks or thinking things she does not eventually say. I will say that I did like the narrator. I thought she did a great job with the voices of Briony, her sister Rose, Elric and Cecil.

I had trouble pinpointing what time period the book was set in until Elric buys a car (which is part of the new techology). I felt the book was older considering most of what we read about witchcraft, "the old ones" etc... tensd to happen before the 1900s. So, I constantly had to remind myself that it was after the turn of the century.

Another thing that stops me from giving it five stars is that I figured out the book before the grand reveal at the end. I do not know whether the author intended for Briony's true self to be revealed at the end or not but it grew increasingly frustrating to know where the story was going yet forced to hear every word and put up with Briony's self-loathing. But maybe that is, in the end, what made me really like this book and become a bit obsessed with how would end. I know I have only really pointed out problems I had with the book but I really did love it! An excellent read!

This one was tough to get into, but it ended up being an imaginative story.
