This is my all time favorite fantasy series. I like the way it has a classical literature feel in the writing. The journeys and maturing of Simon bear watching. The norns still make the hair on my arms stand straight up! And the descriptions of the Elves and their habitat is one of the most...

Every once in a while I get the urge to read a high fantasy novel instead of something more highbrow, much like people get cravings for hamburger over steak or a desire to punch themselves in the groin instead of having a nice cup of coffee. Since Tad Williams's Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn often...

This book was very good, but a little slow. I say slow; it wasn't boring, per se, but it just didn't have as much action as I figured it would. Overall, good intro book for a series.

A slow beginning, but pure brilliance. A subtle, poignant tale of growing up, in a world of magic and mayhem.

I enjoyed the series at the time I read it, but it's no longer to my taste.

I devoured this series in my teenage years and still have very fond memories about it. The world of Osten Ard may seem like a stereotypical fantasy setting, but Williams' style of writing and the overall plot of "Memory, Sorrow & Thorn" make the series something special, in my opinion.

A terrific opening for the trilogy. I've read this book and its companion novels multiple times and enjoy it as much or more each time. (more later)

It might seem a little long but it is well worth it. This entire series has been a favorite since middle school.
